Golf Elbow is also known as Medial Epicondylitis, baseball elbow, suitcase elbow, or forehand tennis elbow. It causes pain from the elbow to the inside of the wrist (medial side) of the elbow. Pain is caused by damage to the muscles that bend the wrist near the palm. It develops when the tendons on the inside of the forearm become inflamed and irritant. More use of forearm, wrist and hand, and elbow is a major cause of golfer elbow.
Symptoms:
- Weakness in the hand and forearm while gripping objects.
- Stiffness in the elbow region.
- pain or numbness
- Tingling sensation while gripping anything.
Causes:
- There are many activities and occupations that lead to golfer's elbow.
- Over use of muscles.
- Forceful, repetitive movements.
Risk Factors:
- Age 40 or above.
- Smoker.
- Obese.
- Repetition in any work
Prevention:
- You can prevent from this by strengthen your forearm muscles.
- Do stretching before any activity.
- Take proper rest after regular interval of time.
- Lift anything properly.
Treatment:
- Some activities must be reduced.
- you can use golfers elbow strap in order to reduce pain during some work.
- Using an ice pack will help you to release pain.
- Physicaltherapy treatments like acupuncture, taping myofascial realse and deep friction massage will help you to relief pain.
- By using manual therapy, these techniques help you to gain full movements.
- By doing full range exercises.
- By doing strengthening exercises.
